AMERICORPS MEMBERS HONORED A year of service to their country and New Hampshire communities. Hampton Beach State Park ~ July 22, 2005 Volunteer NH! honored over 100 AmeriCorps and VISTA members on Friday July 22 at the Hampton Beach State Park Pavilion. Members received recognition for fulfilling a year of service to their country and New Hampshire communities. AmeriCorps members are getting things done all over New Hampshire. They play a vital role in meeting the needs of NH communities. They are advocates for victims of domestic and sexual violence, they provide literacy services to children and their families, they are providing positive out of school activities to youth and improving New Hampshire's State Parks and trail systems. New Hampshire currently has 5 programs; NH Reads AmeriCorps, City Year AmeriCorps, Victims Assistance Program, NH Parks and PlusTime NH. AmeriCorps is part of the National Service movement that engages citizens 17 and over of all backgrounds in service to help solve community problems. In exchange for their service they receive a modest living allowance and an education award. Printer this page
