Volunteerism Awards

Volunteer NH! strongly believes in recognizing and rewarding volunteerism throughout the State of New Hampshire by offering the following award programs.  

The Governor's Award for Outstanding Volunteer Manager

This award was created by former Governor John Sununu to honor volunteer administrators and salute their excellence in leadership and management of volunteers in New Hampshire.  Governor Lynch has carried on the tradition of this award, which was formerly named after Peg McGarity, who brought 17 years of experience to her position as executive director of the Governor's Office of Volunteerism and promoted volunteerism and professional volunteer management. Click here for more details.


Spirit of New Hampshire Awards

In 2003, Volunteer NH! established the Spirit of New Hampshire Awards,a state-level recognition program to honor exemplary contributions to volunteerism. The annual fall gala augments the many volunteer recognition events that occur in communities throughout the state each year. The Spirit of New Hampshire Awardsare presented in two major categories. Volunteer Service Awards honor people who provide direct volunteer service in the categories of youth, adult, senior, family, group and national service program. Volunteer Program Champion Awards recognize exemplary volunteer programs in businesses, non-profit organizations, educational institutions, faith-based groups, municipalities, service clubs and government agencies.  Click here for more details.

In 2005, the New Hampshire Volunteer of the Month Award, was added to the Spirit of New Hampshire recognition program, to extend volunteer recognition throughout the year. This monthly award is presented at a scheduled meeting of the Governor and Executive Council and honors a youth, an adult, or a senior whose volunteer contributions improve life in New Hampshire.
