Volunteer NH! kicks off local 10th Anniversary Celebration of National and Community Service

On Friday October 22, more than 100 AmeriCorps and AmeriCorps* VISTA members were sworn-in for 1 year of full time service. This event also commemorates the 10th Anniversary of the Corporation for National and Community Service.

Since 1994, the Corporation’s AmeriCorps program has engaged millions of Americans of every age and walk of life in volunteer service to meet vital needs in communities throughout the country.

AmeriCorps members are making a difference in New Hampshire communities by serving in the following programs; PlusTime NH, NH Parks AmeriCorps, Victims Assistance Program, NH Reads and City Year NH. AmeriCorps members advocate for victims of domestic violence, promote safe positive out of school activities for children, conserving NH trails, and promoting literacy in young children. Members serve full time for 1 year and in exchange receive a modest living allowance and an education award.
