Hampton Beach State Park ~ July 22, 2005
Volunteer NH! honored over 100 AmeriCorps and VISTA members on
Friday July 22 at the Hampton Beach State Park Pavilion. Members
received recognition for fulfilling a year of service to their
country and New Hampshire communities.
AmeriCorps members are getting things done all over New
Hampshire. They play a vital role in meeting the needs of NH
communities. They are advocates for victims of domestic and sexual
violence, they provide literacy services to children and their
families, they are providing positive out of school activities to
youth and improving New Hampshire's State Parks and trail
systems. New Hampshire currently has 5 programs; NH Reads
AmeriCorps, City Year AmeriCorps, Victims Assistance Program, NH
Parks and PlusTime NH.
AmeriCorps is part of the National Service movement that engages
citizens 17 and over of all backgrounds in service to help solve
community problems. In exchange for their service they receive a
modest living allowance and an education award.
