Gaining Through Giving: PlusTime's National Service Programs
PlusTime NH sponsors both an AmeriCorps and an A* VISTA Program. Which program would be a better fit for you?
AmeriCorps: The main objective for PlusTime NH AmeriCorps Members is to assist in creating programs for youth with a focus on expanding and enhancing the quality of afterschool programs and organizations. Click Here for AmeriCorps Fact Sheet.
General tasks may include:
- Strengthening youth participation in a program by creating innovative curriculum.
- Building community support through volunteer recruitment and outreach.
- Develop service learning projects that engage youth in their community; their world.
- Development and implementation of health and wellness activities.
- Enhancing programming options by researching and coordinating curriculum ideas, strengthening relationships with local schools to develop the connection between the school-day and the afterschool program, creating connections with local enrichment providers, etc.
A*VISTA: The main objective for PlusTime NH AmeriCorps*VISTA Members is to assist in building the capacity and sustainability of afterschool programs and organizations. Click here for A*VISTA Fact Sheet.
General tasks may include:
- Increasing revenue by researching and writing grants, developing and organizing fundraisers, developing systems to enhance donor relations, etc.
- Building community support by engaging key stakeholders through public relations and media outreach efforts, parent engagement strategies, etc.
- Increasing support by developing systems for recruiting, managing and recognizing volunteers.
- Strengthening operations by developing technology systems, providing technological support and assisting in the planning and implementation of technological strategic plans.
- Supporting program evaluation efforts by organizing key research and statistics, designing and implementing program surveys, tabulating results, creating presentations, etc.
- Enhancing programming options by researching and coordinating innovative curriculum ideas, strengthening relationships with local schools to develop the connection between the school-day and the afterschool program, creating connections with local enrichment providers, etc.

The beauty of both our AmeriCorps and our A*VISTA Program is that depending on interests and skills, members can work with their host sites to develop special projects which would benefit both the member and host site. In other words, creativity is both allowed and encouraged!
