Community Pillar Award Reception Sponsor
This annual recognition program is administered by Volunteer NH in collaboration with the Office of the Governor. Spirit of New Hampshire awards honor outstanding contributions to volunteerism throughout the state of New Hampshire. They augment the many local recognition events that show appreciation for the work of community volunteers and volunteer programs
Each fall, a statewide celebration is held to present Spirit of New Hampshire Awards in two major groups:
- Volunteer Service Awards recognize individuals and groups who provide volunteer services that strengthen communities and improve the lives of the citizens of New Hampshire. These awards honor outstanding volunteers - or groups of volunteers - who reflect the strong ethic of service and volunteerism in our state.
- Volunteer Program Champion Awards recognize outstanding volunteer programs that provide the infrastructure for volunteers to be successful in their service. Awards in the Volunteer Program Champion category recognize excellent program management, fund development efforts that sustain volunteer programs, and commitment of time/resources to engage employees in community volunteer roles.
Volunteer NH also awards the Spirit of New Hampshire Award, which is selected by a review panel out of the Volunteer Service Awards, & theCommunity Pillar Award.
The Grappone family was given the Community Pillar Award.
The Community Pillar Award is given to an outstanding member of the community whose work has fostered the civic engagement of others and has provided a lasting impact on New Hampshire citizens. As with any outstanding contribution to the culture of service, the impact of this community member’s work extends far beyond New Hampshire, the recipient of the Community Pillar Award must have an ethic of direct service and serve to inspire others to become involved. Previous winners of this award include: the Television Station WMUR, Governor John Lynch, and the Alstead Flood Volunteers, Dean Kamen, and the Singer Family.
